The Roman church of Saint Nectaire 12th century, this is certainly one of the most beautiful Auvergne region. Enthroned on Mount Cornadore it was built by the Benedictine monks of La Chaise Dieu there is a little less 1000 years according to recent discoveries. More than one hundred capitals (103) characterize perfectly Romanesque inspiration, you will also find in the church of Saint bust Baudine (Lent to the British Museum in London since 23 June to 9 October 2011), the arm reliquary of Saint Nectaire and the Virgin Our Lady of Mount Cornadore.

From 1840, the church is classified Monument Historique, it dominates the city with its strategic position and lights with stained glass windows of the 19th century. How to visit ?

Go directly to Saint Nectaire, Once in the village you will have no trouble finding, it is in the upper parts of the city. Lift your eyes and join speeds doors of the building, they are open all year.

The opening hours are :

  • Of 01/04 the 31/10 : Open Monday to Sunday from 9h to 19h.
  • Of 01/11 the 31/03 : Open Monday to Sunday from 10h to 17h

During the summer period in July and August, guided tours organized by the CASA association. With free participation at the end of the visit.
